Microsoft Loop brings together a team’s key content and tasks onto a single platform. It currently works seamlessly with Teams, Outlook, OneNote, and Whiteboard. Loop allows for quick and efficient information sharing without needing to switch between applications. Furthermore, all edits update in real-time, and the same information can be edited simultaneously across multiple Microsoft 365 applications, such as Teams, Outlook, and OneNote.
Microsoft Loop is built on three main elements: Loop components, Loop pages, and Loop workspaces.
Loop Components
Loop components are small, shareable content blocks, such as task lists, tables, sticky notes, or polls. They can be embedded in messages, meeting notes, or other documents. The greatest strength of components is that they automatically update in all places where they appear. For example, if a task list is sent in a Teams message and the same component is also on a project page, all updates will be visible in both locations in real-time.
Loop Pages
A Loop page is a flexible and visual space where various components, documents, links, and comments can be gathered into a single view. Pages enable the creation of comprehensive entities for campaigns, projects, or team meetings, for example. They are like digital notes that can be enriched with other Microsoft 365 content. Teams can collaborate on pages simultaneously.
Loop Workspaces
A workspace is a broader entity that brings together multiple Loop pages and components. Workspaces help track project progress and organize content logically. A workspace displays all topics and discussions related to a specific project or team. Workspaces can be shared among the team, and work can be done both in real-time and at one’s own pace.
Copilot Works Seamlessly with Microsoft Loop
Loop is not just a co-authoring platform – the integrated Copilot tool brings AI to assist in content creation and refinement. For example, Copilot can suggest text drafts, summarize lengthy material, propose tasks, or even help design a project structure. You can ask it to, for instance: “Create a summary of last week’s team meeting” or “Suggest tasks for campaign implementation.”
Copilot works seamlessly with Loop components and pages. Its suggestions can be edited and further shared with the team. Teams can leverage Copilot for both ideation and concrete tasks, such as reporting and drafting meeting minutes. Microsoft Loop requires organizations to have at least a Microsoft 365 Standard subscription. If a company wishes to add Microsoft Copilot to Loop, this license must be activated separately for each user.
